Cheltenham Art
42nd Cheltenham Art in the Park
2011 was our 42nd year. Essential work to the pavement next to the Imperial Gardens took place during the exhibition, along the Promenade leading up to the Queen Hotel. Despite the work, our exhibition went on as usual, and the good people of Cheltenham were not deterred from visiting our event once again, and supporting art in the town.
For a variety of reasons, organising
the event this year presented us with many challenges, and pulling off a
successful event was no mean feat. A lot of the credit for this goes to
our Chairperson Jane Ware who worked very hard to cover all bases and keep the
event ticking along. We were also grateful for some excellent support in
2011, from our sponsors Midwinters Solicitors and Willans Solicitors, and also
from the local media. Radio Gloucestershire visited the Art in the Park
exhibition during Week 1 and recorded a feature.
We were also very grateful to Regent Arcade for once again allowing us to dress one of the shop windows with paintings by artists exhibiting with us, to promote the event in the town. The exhibition is run by a committee of artists on a not-for-profit basis, and the sponsorship and support we receive in the town goes a long way towards enabling us to continue with this yearly event.
